Forgot who passed this along, but this is the rarely heard long opening to the show. The beginning is abrupt, but you'll get the gist.

Courtesy David Gross. This is really cool because it has the audio engineer naming off the track and the orchestra warming up before Dolly joins in.

You're probably more familiar with the theme to 'SCTV Network,' but this theme is worth listening to as well.

Barbie (1985, video)
Women reached new heights in the '80s...and this commercial spells it out. Watch for the gymnastics scenes, likely inspired by the success of Mary Lou Retton at the 1984 Olympics. Courtesy Pipeline News Music Factory.

Full-length version of the timeless late '70s/early '80s 'Reach out and touch someone' campaign.

Chase-Manhattan Bank (1980)
"The Chase is On," thanks to David Gross. With phrases like "in the race against inflation," this song dates itself. The hardline anti-inflationary monetary policies of Fed chairman Paul Volcker didn't take hold until the recession they caused in 1981-82, which marked the end of The Great Inflation of the 1970s.

That wasn't the thought of the millions of people in unemployment lines, but his actions, combined with conservative fiscal policies, put America on track for the realtive stability and prosperity we have enjoyed for the last 15 years. Okay, enough of the economic history lesson...

The Promise of Florida
Price is Right cue composer Edd Kalehoff penned this piece for the state of Florida. Has a neat instrumental bed that has many of the traits of his work for TPIR.

David D. in New Jersey brings us this classic video, featuring the lovely Cheryl Tiegs, and golf champion Arnold Palmer, all centered around the "There's more for your life" campaign.

Cool tune from the late '70s for Wyler's drink mix.

Match Game (1973)
Paul in North Carolina kindly recorded this classic theme, as heard on the air, off of an old CBS affiliate promo reel. If the sound is scratchy, turn the volume control on your RealPlayer half way down, and use your computer's master volume to adjust.

Okay, so it's not '80s, but it's a good theme none the less.

Evening/P.M. Magazine (1985)
Thanks to Jim in Massachusetts. This is one of my all-time favorites. A perfect '80s combination of vocals, synthesizers, and lush orchestral instruments. It was used during the mid-'80s on all of the Evening Magazine programs, which aired on the Group W-owned stations (KPIX, KDKA, KYW, WJZ, WBZ). Identical music was used in dozens of markets under the 'P.M. Magazine' moniker.

My all-time favorite news theme, this is the main theme to the 1983 update which was used on most of the ABC O&Os; and many other stations during the late '80s. WBBM Channel 2 News open (video)
Okay, it's not a theme, but I just like this news open. Hard working reporters bringing you the news with no fluff, and the catchy music doesn't hurt. This aired during the late '70s and early '80s on Chicago's then-number one news, a title which WLS took over during the mid '80s with the help of (among other things) the updated Eyewitness News music featured above.

Remember, this was 1977, and this is impressive by today's standards. Not a lot of computers involved, but some very crafty filmmaking at work here.

Features people watching ABC shows, then heading outside to have fun. What's wrong with that? All the scenes are of people watching the shows in broad daylight, even though none of them aired during the day! NTL, a treat to watch....features many ABC stars picnicking and riding up in a 'Still the One' balloon.

You and Me and ABC (1980, video)
All the stars of the ABC shows gather around on a backlot to spruce up the neighborhood, painting with special ABC paint.

Now is the Time, ABC is the Place (1981, video)
David Gross came up with the full video of this one. This is definitely the most elaborate of the promos, featuring groundbreaking animation by Harry Marks and plenty of close-ups of your favorite stars. Even Dynasty's John Forsythe is blown away. Do not miss out on this one!

Come on Along (1982, video)
Another slick production job, with your ABC stars leading a crowd of people through Times Square, Robert Guillame leading a parade through middle America, and Ted Knight in China!

We're With You on ABC (1984, video)
They departed from featuring stars prominently in this one, opting for character actors to play the roles of people watching ABC shows throughout the day. Great music (Florence Warner has the lead) and fun to watch.

Action News 11, We Take You There (1981, video)
One of my favorites, from WBAL-TV in Baltimore. It's not too sappy, with well-orchestrated music, and nice imagery. I'd watch their newscast! Seeing the anchor go bowling makes this one worth downloading. And, if you like the music, here's a higher-quality audio-only version.

ABC turned its promo song into an internal spot for its United Way charity campaign.

No, the date isn't a typo. This is just to show you that some Creative Services directors are still putting out catchy, and pleasantly cheesy promos. This is from WABI-TV in Maine. Kudos to them!

This particular version is an early one, with Frank Gari himself doing the singing.

Video of the Wichita campaign from KARD, featuring the rendition sung by the legendary Florence Warner that most people are familiar with. Sorry, but Wichita is misspelled in the file info. field. Can't change it without reencoding.

Hello, Tulsa (1982-84, video)
The residents of Tulsa sing along to their favorite sappy hometown song from KJRH. Senator Jim Inhofe (R) of Oklahoma makes an appearance. He was then mayor of Tulsa.

Hello, Utah (video)
Watch Utah's favorite celebrities, the Osmond kids, in the studio singing the song.

Hello, East Rochester (video)
Typical short version of the promo, with a city resident saying 'Hello,' although the voice doesn't match up in this one.

Hello, Colorado joke cut (video)
A rare parody of the Hello campaign featuring a guy getting beaten to death under the tagline '11 Loves You.'

Just Watch Us Now! (1982)
One of the great NBC promo campaigns. Don't miss this one! That's Richie Havens singing the solos. He also pops up in some of the CBS promos. Thanks to David Gross for coming up with it.

KNBC News 4 L.A. (1985, video)
Don't miss this! Shots of all your favorite KNBC reporters and anchors (Nick Clooney, Kirstie Wilde, David Horowitz, Fritz Coleman, Fred Roggin, Kevin O'Connell, John Beard, and Tritia Toyota bouncing at her typewriter) set to the tune of a neat instrumental mix of Let's All Be There! Let's All Be There (1984)
This is the 20 second donut version often used during credit rolls to promote the late-night lineup and the Today show. It's got all the best parts of the music wrapped up in one compact package. In actual use, they cut out the first verse and replaced it with the NBC chimes. Too bad, because the opening drum beat is one of the best parts.

Infamous parody of the 1979 campaign by the production company itself. Rumor has it Don Imus played this on his WNBC radio morning show and got fired as a result.
